Crochet Simple Messy Bun Beanie **FREE Teen/Adult Size Pattern**
Hi y'all! So today I have another one of my original designs to share with you. It's my own twist on the VERY popular Messy Bun Beanie! You've probably seen MANY other patterns like this one, this one, and this one. But I decided to go REALLY simple, and make one fully out of double and single crochet stitches. There is a border of crab stitches, AKA reverse single crochet, at the very end, but I promise you it's easy-peasy! So, let's get on with the pattern! Oh, and, here's a picture of mine. (Ya know, in case ya wanna see what it looks like before you go to the trouble of making it.)
-Yarn needle for weaving in ends.
-Scissors are probably a good idea too...
Stitch Abbreviations:
sc: single crochet
dc: double crochet
sl st: slip stitch
ch: chain
dc2tog: double crochet two together
st(s): stitch(es)

Pattern:
The Bottom Ribbed Band:
Begin with a slip knot and ch 9.
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch sts across. ch 1. (8 sc sts)
Rows 2-68: sc in the BACK LOOP in each st across. ch 1. (8 sc sts)
"Row" 69: sl st BOTH ends of your now very long strip (which is the bottom band of your hat) together in the back loop only of Row 68. ch 1.
The Body of the Hat:
Rnd 1: sc in the end st of your ribbed band all the way sround and you should have 68 sts. If you don't, I suggest adding (or subtracting) a few till you reach that number, just so your count is the same as mine.

Rnd 6: ch 2, (dc2tog, dc in next 15,) repeat ( ) around. sl st to first st. (64 dc sts)
Rnd 7: ch 2, (dc2tog, dc in next 14,) repeat ( ) around. sl st to first st. (60 dc sts)
Rnd 8: ch 2, (dc2tog, dc in next 13,) repeat ( ) around. sl st to first st. (56 dc sts)
Rnd 9: ch 2, (dc2tog, dc in next 12,) repeat ( ) around. sl st to first st. (52 dc sts)
