Crochet Lamb Hat *FREE Pattern Modification*
After great reviews and many requests, here it is!
After I posted this photo:
in one of the crochet groups I'm in on Facebook asking if I should write up the pattern, I got a TON of comments saying I should defintly do it, so I did!
Although, it is not all my pattern, just the main part of the hat. The earflaps and the ears are part of the pattern posted by Sarah at RepeatCrafterMe. (Links to her website can be found below.) I made up the main part of this hat because I could never get the bobble stitches to "puff" enough. And lately, I have been making a lot of puff stitch slouchy hats, so I decided to make this lamb hat using the puff stitch. The puff stitch pattern I followed was the one from Ashley at Sewrella. (Her link can also be found below.)
They are my 2 favorite crochet bloggers, btw. ;)
I hope you enjoy and it is easy for you to work up! If you have any questions, feel free to comment below, and I'll answer asap. Happy crocheting!
Crochet Lamb Hat
You will need:
-H/5.00mm crochet hook
-Worsted weight yarn in white and grey. (Or two colors of
your choice. I used I Love This yarn from Hobby Lobby in white for the main part of the hat and some grey for the inner
ear part only.)
-Yarn needle
Stitch Abbreviations:
hdc: half double crochet
sc: single crochet
sl st: slip stitch
ch: chain
st: stitch
Puff Stitch tutorial by Sewrella can be found HERE
Notes to remember:
-your ch 2 at beginning of the rnd does NOT count as a
stitch.
-When the pattern says “sl st and ch 2” that means to slip
stitch to the first stitch of that rnd and ch 2 to start the next one.
Hat Pattern:
Start with a magic ring and ch. 2.
Rnd 1: 8 hdc in ring***OR you can substitute with 8 puff
stitches. (I did 8 hdc) sl st and ch 2.
Rnd 2: 2 puff stitches in each st around. Sl st and ch 2.
Rnd 3: *2 puff sts in first st, 1 puff st in next st,*
repeat from *to* around. Sl st and ch 2.
Rnd 4: * 2 puff sts in first st, 1 puff st in next 2 sts*
repeat from *to* around. Sl st and ch 2.
Rnds 5-12: 1 puff st in each st around. Sl st and ch 2.
Do not ch 2 or fasten off after finishing rnd 12. Instead,
ch 1 and start earflaps as written in THIS lamb hat pattern by Sarah at
RepeatCrafterMe.com. After finishing the earflaps, continue to sc around as
instructed in her pattern, but do not do the braids/strands that hang from the
earflap corners. Instead just ch 2 and continue sc around the hat and fasten
off. Weave in your eands and finsh the hat by making THESE lamb ears, also written
by Sarah at RepeatCrafterMe, and sew them on between rnds 5 & 6. Weave in
ends and put this cute little puff stitch hat onto your little lamb!
I hope you figured it out alright and enjoyed making this hat! I'll be back soon!
